Listening to Right Now...

Favorite Song right now is "New Look" by Amuro Namie, that fun, bouncy and sassy ode to fashion and supermodels, all wrapped up in a catchy 60's laced tune! I just can't stop playing this song over and over again in my car, blasting it on full volume!

Looking over the composing credits, I noticed that besides writers Kura and Michico, there also was a credit for Holland/Dozier/Holland. Eh? Was New Look originally done by the Supremes and converted to Japanese? Then I realized that the song faded out to Namie singing "Baby Love", and thought, ah, that's why the credit is there. It was only when I listened to the "New Look" instrumental track without Namie's vocals that I realized the entire song was arranged around Baby Love! In fact, it blew my mind that without the vocal track, it sounded exactly like Baby Love, but with the imaginative re-arrangement of Namie's vocal melody laid over it, it transformed into a WHOLE NEW SONG! Simply AMAZING!

Take a listen to the instrumental track and then scroll back and listen to New Look again...
