Kiritani Mirei's "Sweet & Bitter" CD/DVD/Photobook Arrives!

Kiritani Mirei Sweet and Bitter Front Cover
When I ordered Kiritani Mirei’s CD Single “Sweet and Bitter a few months back, I wasn’t really sure of what to expect…was this going to be a CD/DVD containing a photo CD of pictures or an entire book? Well, the latter didn’t seem likely, so all I could do was and see!

When the package finally arrived at my doorstep, I was first taken in my the size of the box which seemed a bit…long to be containing a CD. Come to find out that what Sweet and Bitter actually was a Mini Photobook with a CD and DVD slipped into the back and front covers. Though the dimensions of the book were about 7”x8”, the reason the box was so long was that they’d included a nice 29”x20” promotional POSTER for the CD as well! YATTA!

The mini Shashinshuu is simply beautiful, a glossy hardcover book featuring 54 pages of pretty Mirei Kiritani photographs featuring  six different themes of “R&B”, “Rock”, “Mods”, ”Punk”, “Bossa Nova” and “Electro”. My personal fave was the Bossa Nova set, which is why I scanned so many of them here! Also included is some poetry and an interview with Mirei promoting her new movie Ranhansha-Snowflake.

Now onto the ACTUAL reason for this wonderful release: Mirei’s singing debut! The CD featured three tracks: Sayonara Made No Aida, Snowflake and Ranhansha, and I was happily surprised to hear that all three of them were very good! Going in, I wasn’t sure just what kind of a singer Mirei would be, and it was quite nice to hear that she actually has a sweet and  pleasant voice, and the songs were very catchy, too. Of the three, my fave is the second tune Snowflake, followed close by Sayonara Made No Aide, both of which I’ve included here to listen to!

What a wonderful surprise right when I'm enjoying Mirei's turn as eccentric Nino in Arakawa Under the Bridge!
