A Gaggle of Girlish Gourmets

Kana Kurashina as Hana
A few months back I checked out a drama called "Hana no Zubora Meshi" (Hana's Messy Meals) starring Kana Kurashina as Hana, an adorably dizzy girl who, though perennially lazy and content to live sloppily, is a whiz at dreaming up easy to make snacks that, although rather rough-looking, are tasty nonetheless!
Not really a true "drama" of the sense, this show is more like a teenybopper version of "Dining With The Chef", where viewers are taught how to make simple meals with stuff around the house (Shake flakes with Mayo on toast, etc)...Crude but Delicious! Not that I was gonna run out and try these (admittedly) dubious recipes myself, but Kana was so adorably cute that I couldn't stop watching it!
This was a cute little show, and these short specials featuring girls showcasing new foods must be a THING in Japan, because just the other week I discovered yet ANOTHER food-related show starring a cute and spazzy girl, and this show was called "Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-San ".
Akari Hayami as Koizumi in Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-San
Like the title suggests, it's about a girl named Koizumi who loves ramen, but  far from Kana Kurashina's happy and genki character of Hana, Koizumi (played perfectly by former Blue MomoClo Akari Hayami) is sullen, dark, and morose, and we find she only breaks out of her gloom when she 's eating her favorite ramen meals!
No, the spazzy character in Ramen Daisuki Koizumi San is Koizumi's peppy friend Yu Ozawa who accompanies her on her ramen outings. Well, I'm not sure if I would call her Koizumi's friend per se... You remember that old Warner Brothers cartoon where a little dog named Chester followed a big bulldog named Spike around everywhere, going 'Hey Spike, what we gonna do today, huh Spike?"
Yeah, this girl is like that, a classmate infatuated with Koizumi and her eccentric eating ways. Though Koizumi herself doesn't care about Yu one way or the other, Yu makes it her mission to accompany Koizumi on her Ramen Travels, obsessed with finding out why she loves Ramen so dearly!
Yu Osawa is played by none other than actress Karen Miyama, the child star from the excellent "Boku To Kanojyo to Kanojyo Ikiru Michi", "Cat Street" and others- You may recall how much I liked this girl and she deserves a big KUDOS in the role of Koizumis's friend Yu. As Koizumi rarely speaks, almost the ENTIRE show is of Yu aDORKably running off at the mouth in awe of her classmate!
You can see how wonderfully frenetic Yu is even by looking at these stills- every once of her is involved in spazzily gushing over her new heroine Koizumi-san, much to the chagrin of her best friend Misa (Furuhata Seika) who cannot see what the hubbub is all about, LOL
Misa is unimpressd with the wierd Koizumi...
..but Yu becomes obsessed with following Koizumi-san
...much to Misa's disapproval!
So yeah, there isn't much here in matter of story, but it is so entertaining watching Karen Miyama's spazzing, and OH MAN, does the RAMEN they showcase on this show look YUMMY!!! Seriously, every time I watch it, I get so HUNGRY and end up cooking some (sadly, only instant) ramen up for myself!!!
LOL, look at that MOUNTAIN of Toppings!
