20 Years of J-Drama Watching!!

It is January 2016, exactly 20 years since I first began seriously watching Japanese Dramas with THE CHEF (before that all my Japan program watching consisted of Superheroes and Samurai)... since then I have seen some 300+ J-dramas (give or take a few, my j-drama diary records weren't always as accurate as they are now) and to celebrate I thought I’d finally get off my duff and put together my definite Favorite J-Dramas list. 

I found, however, that a ranking list consisting of both the older dramas (from when I first got into shows) and newer shows almost impossible to make- It was like trying to make a Rock n Roll Album Best Of list and trying to rank both Beatles and Breeders in the same Top 10… Both great albums in their own right, but probably better to make two separate lists, one for Classic Rock and one for Alternative Music, right?

 So in the end, instead of struggling to make one big Top 50 J-dramas list, I instead split it in half and made two Top 25 Lists, one for J-dramas from 1990 through to 2000  (Yes, I began watching dramas in '95 but thanks to friends and trading, managed to see quite a few from the early 90's)and another list listing dramas from 2001-to present. Once I decided on that, the rankings for the dramas came pretty fast and easily! 

So now Ladies and Gentlemen,I present to you a list 20 years in the making: Z’S TOP 50 FAVORITE J-DRAMAS!
