One of the great things about talking with other fervent J-drama fans is that you get recommendations to a lot of older dramas that you might have missed or passed up the first time around. It was through other jdrama fans that I was turned on to absolutely wonderful shows like TRICK and Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, and here we have the latest "older" drama to win me over, the VERY entertaining and fun LEGAL HIGH!
Legal High tells the tale of a young attorney named Machiko Mayuzumi (played by the dazzling Yui Aragaki, awesome as always) who is new to the world of courtroom dramas whom somehow gets paired up with Kensuke Komikada (Masato Sakai), a genius, star lawyer who is famous for never losing a case in his professional career.
Only problem is, Komikado is a jaded fellow who has ostracized himself from the elite circle of lawyers in Japan for his eccentric ways, and he will only entertain cases that will bring him lots of money. It's only through his chance meeting with the wide-eyed and affable Mayuzumi that he is brought back into the fold, where her good heart gets him to take on paltry cases that he'd normally ignore, and together the two take on the criminals, politics and even the attacks from other lawyers, to bring truth and justice to those persecuted!
OH man, this is such a fun show, particularly becasue Machiko and Kensuke work so good against each other, filling the scenes with vitriolic banter with irritation at each other- Kensuke irritated because Machiko's so slow on the uptake, and Machiko irked because Kensuke is such an unsympathetic clod to the feelings of others.
As they knock heads, they break down the cases and it's all wonderfully balanced with Kensuke's kind-hearted butler Hattori (played by wonderful actor Satomi Kotaro), who plays kind of a refereee to the shouts and insults between the two!

Up to episode 5 of the show and it's just getting better and better! Time to get back to watching MORE!
PS: Someone had mentioned to me how great sexy actress Eiko Koike is in this and HOLY HELL, is she EVER! This is the most SMOKIN' role I think I've seen her in yet, so coy, sultry and SEDUCTIVE, MAN she just STEALS every scene she's in !!!
