Some Notes on Kizoku Tantei

Well, Kizoku Tantei is finally over…can’t say I was a really big fan of this drama... I didn’t like the set-up of the show where in every episode the Emi Takei character Takatoku Aika thinks she’s solved the case, only to be proved incorrect by the Noble Detective…It got to the point where I was like, gads, stop wasting time showing Aika working the case if you’re only going to humiliate her in the end!! Happily, there WERE a few things that made it worthwhile.
One thing I really liked about the show was the interaction between her and  (Namase Katsuhisa) as they cooperated with each other while investigating the crime scene. Their fun and teasing banter was what made me able to continue watching the show! In fact, I wish the show was ABOUT the two of them: the arrogant but clueless Detective Hana and the smart and efficient girl detective Aika showing him how it’s done…coulda been like a modern day Japanese Nancy Drew!
And Emi! How I love this girl, and though most of the time show was dressed in an unassuming style, every now and again there would be a reason (like her having to attend a high class dinner) for her to literally let her hair down and show how freaking pretty she was!

Speaking of pretty, it’s been awhile since I saw adorable Miki Honoka (whom you may recall I last gushed about in 2013 in Itazura No Kiss and back in 2011 for her cute turn as little sister Kanako in the drama Clone Baby),  and I’m happy to report that in her appearance  in Kizoku Tantei, Ms. Honoka is looking as precious as ever!
She still looks as wide-eyed and innocent as she once did, and she’s still showing off her trademark teacup ears! So delicate and feminine!!
Only confusing thing: She’s now going by the name of Honoka Yanagi?? Eh, when did this happen? Oh well, she’ll always be Miki Honoka to me. Hmmm, Been awhile since Itazura No Kiss…isn’t it time to see her in another starring vehicle?
