Fuka Koshiba Steals My Heart Again in “Bishoku Tantei Akechi Goro”

Tomoya Nakamura and Fuka Koshiba
Kobayashi Ichigou (Fuka Koshiba)  is a sweet girl running a lunch truck in a small neighborhood. Her business, “Strawberry Deli” does well for her and her food is good, but there is one customer who simply gets on her nerves!
His name is Goro Akechi (Tomoya Nakamura), a private detective who runs his firm out of the building right behind Ichigo’s truck, and thus she sees him every day.  Not only is he picky and demanding about his food, but he always seems to have some excuse for not paying her!
He tries to pay with credit card knowing full well that she can’t accept them and then walks off, saying, “Well, I’ll just have to owe you”.
He’s been doing it for some time now and Ichigo estimates he owes her for at least 10 meals!
After one such day trying to pay with credit, he is accosted by some colleagues and led back to his building.  In the melee he forgets both his bento AND his credit card on the tray and it’s up to good-hearted Ichigo to go up to his business and return it to him.
Giving him his lunch, she expects payment or at least compliments on her cooking. But after sampling the lunch, all he can offer is a mumbled “Not Bad.”
 "Not Bad."
"Is that the best you can say?"
She’s just about had enough of him when there is a knock on the door- it’s a pretty woman (Eiko Koike) who has come to hire Akechi to investigate her husband who she suspects is cheating on her.
Akechi orders Ichigo to make tea for them while he interviews the woman, and the naive girl immediately scampers to the kitchen to make some. Seems she is just too sweet and easily pushed around by this guy!
 Watching the detective in action.
'Hey, why am I the one making tea???"
She gets further involved with Akechi and the case when he asks her to deliver  a bento to him while he is on surveillance. Seems one of his strict rules is to have his three meals a day no matter what, and Ichigo agrees to bring it to him.
While there, her interest gets the best of her and she hangs around for the stakeout. They confirm the husband is cheating and relate it to their client, not knowing this will have dire repercussions....
The next day, Akechi is back taking advantage of Ichigo and her lunch wagon. Before you know it, Akechi is treating Ichigo like his personal assistant, calling her up to accompany him on cases and making her drive him to his jobs! Thus she is thrown into the world of detecting!
Ichigo confides in her friend Momoko (Miu Tomita) that she has been dealing with this weirdo detective who calls her all the time and involves her in his work, to which she says “Maybe he LIKES you!” a thought that gives Ichigo chills!
In the meantime, Akechi has stumbled upon a new set of murders. And as usual, he calls on Ichigo to meet him.
"What, again???"
Meeting up with Akechi at the scene of the crime.
Using her Google-fu to help with the case.
They track down the mastermind behind the murders....
...and find it to be their past client!!!!
We learn that through his investigation and confirming the fidelity of the cheating husband, Akechi has awoken something in the mild-mannered woman.
Telling her she should be the person she really is inside, she sheds her meek image…and after "dealing" with her cheating husband, embraces her dark side and becomes Akechi’s murderous arch-enemy Mary Magdalene,  a veritable Moriarty to Akechi’s Holmes!
Seems she is going to be Akechi's main adversary throughout the series-  VERY cool birth of a super-villain!!!
Oh man, this is yet another wild and WACKY drama for adorable Fuka Koshiba who once again steals my heart with her all-out enthusiasm- Honestly, Akechi irritated me from the beginning (with his aloof attitude and stealing from Ichigo), but she was so hyperactively spazzy that I just couldn’t stop watching!

Simply a JOY to watch and can’t wait to see MORE!
PS: In a nice call back to her Tokusatsu Gagaga roots, Fuka Koshiba’s character name is Kobayashi Ichigo, but absent-minded Akechi can’t get it in his head that her name is strawberry, and keeps calling her “Kobayashi 1”, a mistake any tokusatsu fan could make!
