Toshinori Yoshioka is a guy working for a promotion company who is constantly under duress because of lazy subordinates and an overbearing boss who have no problem piling the work on to him.
One evening after another grueling day at work, he goes to drown his sorrows at a local restaurant where he happens to meet his cherished senior Keiko Tanaka, a food Journalist who appreciates the better things in life like good food, good talk and good people.
Through her Yoshioka learns about the magic of the “Ko” shaped bar where customers face one another and are able to easily interact with each other. This creates a camaraderie between the eaters that encourage lively conversation and a warm eating experience.
Yoshioka’s eyes are opened to how the Ko shaped bar really affects his meals, and with interest in bars of that kind (as well as an aching attraction to Keiko herself), tells her to recommend any other Ko shaped bars she can think of!
A few days later, after another stressful day at work with the same lazy subordiates, Keiko sends Toshinori directions to a particular pub, telling him sagely, “it’s what you need right now”.
Yoshioka finds the place after much searching, but is intimidated by the seedy aspects of the place and the rough look of the patrons.
But the customers, all regulars of the eatery, immediately take to him, offering their advice on what he should order and, once he opens up to them, even talk about life and work!
And the food. The food is so good, the beer so smooth, by the time he is done, he is once again convinced of the magic a Ko shaped bar can have.
As he leaves, he texts Keiko to tell her how much he loved her suggestion. She calls him up to chat and he tells her, “I know why you said I needed that bar”. And with a smile she says, “I’ll suggest some place even better next time!

"I'll be looking forward to it!" And with that, Yoshioka strides down the street with a hum in his voice and a skip in his step, ready to take on another day…
This is yet another one of those "eating” kind of dramas like “Ramen Daisuke no Koizumi San” or “Hana Zubori No Meshi” where the plot is only loosely strung around food experiences, with key focus on the food and the establishment’s specialties. Not much in way of an actual story (which is actually a good thing because the scenes of the douchey subordinate are unbearable to sit through) but the food and interactions Yoshioka goes through are fun and relaxing to see!
One of those “Watch right-before-going-to-sleep" kind of shows, though it might make you hungry!
