Black Revenge in Black Scandal

 Binged on the 2018 drama “Black Scandal” this past weekend and was really blown away by actress Sayaka Yamaguchi in the role of actress Sara Fujisaki whose life takes a turn when she is accused of a scandalous affair-one that she is innocent of. Thanks to the overzealous (and in fact at times downright evil) media, she is dumped by her fiance, fired from her job and loses her mother to suicide. With nothing left to live for, she chooses revenge and, with the help of face and throat surgery, enters the world of media as a brand new person…with the goal of obliterating all that have wronged her!
Sayaka has been dabbling in the roles of the “addled” woman as far back as “Hunter~Sono Onnatachi, Shoukin Kasegi”  back in 2011, and honed her craft as the insanely angelic Noriko Takanori in “Zettai Seigi”, and now we have her at her MOST INTENSE- a wronged woman whose only passion is REVENGE!

Sad to say, the drama didn’t conclude very satisfactorily for me…Why oh WHY do these dramas ALWAYS have to have a “twist” where the bad guys are ALWAYS revealed to be her trusted “friends” and loved ones??? It’s a CLICHE by now. STOP using this trope!
Nonetheless, I couldn't help but place this drama HIGH on my list, Sayaka was SO damn AWESOME here!!! In fact, I believe she has risen to become one of my all-time favorite actresses!
