Crush of The Day: Tina Tamashiro

Well, I guess I’ll go ahead and make it official. It was only when I saw the press conference for the upcoming movie “xxxHolic” that I realized how much of a CRUSH I had developed on Tina Tamashiro watching her in her role as the gentle and pensive "Stylish Icon turned Train Otaku" Michiko Ohganeku in the sweet drama “Tetsu Ota Michiko 2Man Kiro” each week!
Initially thought it might be too late making a “Crush of The Day” post for her since I’d already wrapped up Tetsu Ota last week, but with the news of her upcoming appearance in “Hoshi Shinichi no Fushigi na Fushigi na Tanpen Drama”, I though, what the heck, I’ll make one anyway!
Needed some nice Tina Tamashiro screengrabs for the post and what better source than the opening credits of Tetsu Ota showing Tina Tamashiro as the svelte and stylish Furniture Designer Michiko Ohganeku modeling for a magazine photoshoot with rock music blaring...
...before picking up her camera and getting ready for her next train adventure!
The bright and flashy opening for the drama belied the calm and soothing drama within, and some of us had questioned why such a loud and rocking opening to the show- But someone pointed out that it was a great way to get to know Michiko’s character in a quick encapsulation-

This continues to be a very neat drama. I am puzzled with the opening sequence. It's so disconnected from the drama. I guess it's just meant to provide a means of showing Tamashiro Tina in attractive outfits?!

I think it's a very neat trick: They basically use the short intro to introduce you to her character. We learn, that she works in the upmarket furniture business, that she models for her company as well, that she seems to be relative successful (own desk), and that she appears to other like a "trendy, fashionable girl/woman".
This is in stark contrast to her Otaku-version that we get to know each episode. The intro also establishes that probably no one at her works knows she's a train otaku. She even gives the "shh" sign while holding the camera.
(And yes, it's also to show her in pretty dresses. I mean she has one of those pretty "haafu" doll faces.)

LOL, I laughed out loud reading that, what a PERFECT summation!!!

But of course, the Tina Tamashiro I fell in love with was NOT the fashionable Model but the quiet and introspective girl wandering around in the rustic woods, following train lines with her trusty camera and simply enjoying life!
Sad that this wonderful drama had only 12 episodes! While I know that most dramas nowadays only have 6, I guess I should be happy, but I wish I could have spent even MORE time wandering the sights with her...
