A Date With Destiny with "Boku, Unmei No Hito Desu"

Fumino Kimura and Kazuya Kamenashi
One of my favorite dramas of all time it “Mada Koi Wa Hajimaranai”, a tale of two star crossed lovers who cannot be together (because of social status ) who commit suicide and vow to meet again in the next life. Then the drama follows the two lovers reborn in the current world where fate works to finally get them back together. And with this spirit of this Pre-Destined Love, so is the story of Boku, Unmei, No Hito Desu, a similarly fantastical drama of two people, Haruko (Fumino Kimura) and Makoto (Kazuya Kamenashi) who are fated to be together…or not!
Kazuya Kamenashi as Makoto
Fumino Kimura as Haruko

oth Makoto and Haruk0 work in the same building on the same floor and eat in the same restaurants, but somehow though their paths should have crossed many times, they’ve managed to never notice each other or meet up even once! Just HOW are these two supposed to be connected?
Makoto goes up in one elevator...
Haruko goes up in another...
both arrive at the same floor at the same time...
but are always distracted by things around them to ever see each other
and so the two work side by side...
...without ever knowing of the other's existence!
Makoto is a new employee at “Welcome Water” where he is introduced to the team by his outspoken friend Kazuo (Yu Sawabe) an old coworker who is only too glad to tell everyone about Makoto’s past failures, oin both life and in love! His new co-workers are fascinated by Makoto’s troubles ,but he assures them that the girl he’s going out with at the moment is really “the one!”

He's a good guy but a loser in love!
Meanwhile across the hall,  Haruko works as a successful marketing executive for Swallow Marketings,  focusing on women’s sales. Even SHE has a loudmouth best friend at the office, in this case her pretty friend Mitsue (the always luscious Nanao) who enjoys telling the team about HER failures at life and love!

She's a whiz at her marketing job
"But she's a loser in love!"
"Eh???!"
Hee Hee!
Though Haruko’s very able and knowledgeable about things like women's trends and figures, she’s currently single and as she approaches 30,  it looks like the prospects are getting slimmer with each day!
Mitsue asking Haruko to go to a mixer with her
Not interested
Mitsue is adamant to make her friend go out and meet guys!

Mitsue has a carefree “I’ll go out with someone even if he’s married because I’m in love right now” but Haruko is more practical, wanting a true love she can see a future with.
That evening, Makoto is planning a romantic dinner with his girlfriend and has gone out for some champagne. When he arrives home, instead of the ”girl of his destiny” waiting for him, he is greeted by the scary apparition of a mysterious man cloaked in black.
A Menacing Figure
Who is it?!
Yamapi as the "Mystery Man"
Makoto
demands to know who he is, but the man only tells him his girl of destiny isn’t coming. he turns on the television, where Makoto sees the girl being arrested! Seems she was nothing more than a con artist who wanted to use him to extort money from but she got caught!
"Your date won't be coming".
turns on the TV
where they see his date getting arrested!
No WAY.
After so many setbacks, Makoto breaks down, sobbing “why does this always happen to me!!!” “Was I a bad person in another life?” The mystery man notes his chagrin, and finally, sits down and levels with him: The reason he’s bwen having such bad luck with women throughout his life is that there is a particular person he is destined to meet, and fate is keeping him off track til he can be steered to the correct girl.
Explaining why he's been such a loser in love.
Really?
Your destined for someone else!
Makoto is relieved to hear the news, thinking "So I’m not a failure!" But then, how does this man know about him? When asked, the guy tells Makoto that he is God!! GOD?! Then Makoto realizes he’s dealing with a crackpot! He grabs a knife and tells him to get out or he’ll call the cops. When he reaches for his phone, however, it’s a photograph of the girl- Haruko Kogetsu!
Get out before I call the cops!
reaches for his phone...
...only to find it's turned into a photograph!
A photo of his Destined Love!
The man tells Makoto that the child that he and this woman have will save the world 30 years in the future from a fiery death with a meteor and so it is of optimal importance that they meet, get married and have that fateful child!
Aft first Makoto can’t believe the prophecy. but when the mystery man shows him proof after proof, he slowly begins to accept it. But even when he learns that this girl works right on the other side of the wall from his workplace, he can’t go right up to her and say they’re destined, can he?

Looks like getting the girl of your destiny isn’t going to be as easy as it seems, and from here on out Makoto’s going to have to use all his courage and tenacity to follow the road fate has planned for him and convince Haruko he really is the person she is meant to spent her future with!!
Holy Heck, this show is so great so far, and it’s wonderful to see my darling Fumino Kimura in her first lead romantic drama, I am so used to seeing her as the tough, gruff and tomboyish types, and though she IS a bit “rough” around the edges, this is easily the PRETTIEST and most FEMININE I’ve EVER seen her in YEARS! Checking back, perhaps the last time she was so “girly was way back in “Henshin Interviewer No Yuutsu” where I FIRST fell in love with her!
This drama is also a reunion of the "Nobuto Wo Produce" Duo Kazuya Kamenashi and Yamashita Tomohisa AKA “Shuuji To Akira” of “Seishun Amigos” fame, and once again they’ve come to gether to do the drama’s ending theme song, “Senakagoshi no Chance” under the moniker “Kame to YamaP”
Ending credits featuring the Seishun Amigos Dudes

Speaking of reunions, this is yet another drama with Fumino and Nanao together, as we just saw them both in the excellent drama "A LIFE" with Takuya Kimura. Back then they were associates with different agendas, but here they are best buddies and all the scenes with them together are very fun and cute!
Pretty funny to see Nanao and Fumino playing best buddies in this drama…Guess they made up since the time Nanao tried to MURDER Fumino back in the drama Siren! LOL!
Fumino and Nanao's killer days back in SIREN

Okay, back to more Boku, Unmei no Hito Desu!
