Though 2NE1’s been one of my favorite groups since I first got into Kpop with songs like Hate You, Pretty Boy, and Can’t Nobody (and later, classics like Fire and the immortal I AM THE BEST), I have to confess that I’ve ALWAYS thought CL was the main singer for the group, and every time I heard one of their songs, I thought it was her singing all the main parts. Even though I’ve got a bunch of their videos and Concert clips, for some reason it never registered to me on who was singing exactly WHAT!
So when I first heard GDragon and TOP’s song “Oh Yeah” featuring BOM as the vocalist, I was taken aback when I heard her voice, thinking to myself, “Wow, she sounds just like CL!” It wasn’t until the aforementioned 2NE1 TV show that I began to see the girls as unique individuals, and finally began to notice that when adorably stoney Bom was singing- it was HER voice that I was associating with the "2NE1 Sound" !!!
I’m not kidding- it seemed that every one of my favorite verses and passages that featured that epic sounding wail was none of the than Ms. Park Bom herself!!! I then began consciously watching the live performances all over again, and yep, dayum, all those incredible, heartfelt lines I loved so much were sung by HER!!!

So just the other day I’m listening to “Up” by Epik High, and while most netizens are bemoaning their recent “mainstream” status, you have to admit this quirky and catchy tune showcases Bom’s amazing voice pretty well! Though it's only a few lines spread throughout the tune, her short-but sweet delivery totally MAKES the song! Opening with Bom’s soaring vocals setting up a majestic vibe to match with the dialog of lifting yourself off of the ground and taking to the sky…

Bom’s recurring catch phrases are then used to bridge the rapping verses, her ethereal words building up to the super-catchy choruses UP UP BABY GET UP WE’RE GOING UP!!! I kept listening to this song over and over again, thinking Holy CRAP, Bom is a GODDESS!!!! Now it's time to re-invest some time into all those stellar 2NE1 Concert releases...NOLZA, Here we come!!!!
