As a newbie prison guard expected to keep the law in the women's prison, Takayama does her best to imitate her superior, Wakai (stoically played by Hikari Mitsushima), but she is so tiny and unthreatening it is beyond cute to watch her bark out commands and scold the cellmates.
In fact, most of the charm of Takayama comes from her goofy single-mindedness of doing everything by the book (and frustrating Wakai to no end, LOL)
I wondered for awhile who she was, but her character wasn't listed in either the Dramawiki, Asianwiki, or even the show's Official Page stats. I found out later (when I was going back through the series to grab some screencaps) that they DID say her name when they first introduced her, but I guess I missed it! It was only when I heard Kyoko Koizumi's character Kayo call her "Takayama"in a later episode that I knew who to look for, and typing in "Takayama" and Kangoku No Ohimesama" in Japanese, FINALLY came to a page telling me just who she WAS...a Miss Shieri Ohata!
Looking her up, I didn't find a whole lot... I was treated to a few pretty pictures of her, info on a PV appearance she made in JRock band Kankaku Piero's song "Sayonara Toiro"...
...and then, I saw her credited...as a castmate for last year's JOSHU SEVEN!!! WHAAAAT! This girl was in TWO "Women in Prison" dramas? HAHAHA, talk about typecasting yourself! As I've yet to see this drama I don't know who she plays, wonder if it's another prison guard?
EDIT: Hahaha, no, judging by the Official Joshu Seven page, Shieri is definitely a prisoner in Joshu Seven:
SAY! I wonder if it was supposed to be an inside joke by casting Shieri as a guard in Kangoku Ohimesama? If so, WELL PLAYED!
