I wasn’t immediately interested in the Ensemble Rom-Com “Koi Nante, Honki de Yatte Dousuru no”, even though it starred one of my big fave actresses Alice Hirose (as well as others like Nanase Nishino and Marie Iitoyo), and when Alice announced she was taking a break from acting in the middle of the show’s airing, I thought, “well, that’s that! If they can't finish it, I can't watch it anyway”
They apparently completed it despite Alice's ongoing hiatus, however, and Nippon Golden Network recently began airing it! I'd long dropped NGN years ago, but Saburo still had it and began giving me weekly musings of the show, in particular Alice herself, whom he summarized with “you just want to hug her at the end of every episode”. Intriguing to say the least!
I still wasn’t overly sold on the show as I’m not too enthusiastic about ensemble romcoms, but when I saw there were subtitles for it (at least, up to episode 7 anyway), I thought, “Ah, what the hell- Alice is in it- ya GOTTA check it out sooner or later!” Romcom Ensemble, here I come!
with Hokuto Matsumura
WELL, up to episode 4 and HOLY GOOSH is Alice the most ADORABLE and DESIRABLE creature EVER! Holy HELL, she is DANGEROUSLY beautiful here, and when you pair it with her sweet, vulnerable character, you have someone you want to root for and see win!
I can even pinpoint the EXACT MOMENT I fell in love with her character- it was when she was at a restaurant enjoying a meal but felt it could be better with higher quality dishes. And then, knowing it would be rude, she tries to peek under the plate to see what brand it is anyway! SO CUTE, and even the server (who goes on to become her love interest) seems equally smitten!

You may remember my obsession with cute girls eating. Well, I'm here to tell ya, no one can look cuter while demurely eating a sandwich than our gal Alice!
PS: I LOVE this blouse she’s wearing, and bless the wardrobe, she wears it often in the show!
I remember a long time ago, reading that Japanese Men find allure in the nape of a woman’s neck. Here is a perfect example of why!
Seriously, seems like each and every scene is meant to showcase Alice in the very best light, showing off her gorgeous features as well as those eccentric quirks of her...ya just GOTTA keep watching!
Ohh, and YES, Saburo had it right……Alice's character of Jun Sakurazawa is so heartbreakingly sympathetic and pure, you REALLY DO want to HUG her as TIGHTLY as you CAN!

Oh, my heart can't take it....
OKAY, gotta get back to the show! Still not sure how Alice's withdrawal from activities will affect the ending of this show or if she wrapped shooting long before, but I'm crossing fingers for a smooth conclusion!
