Adventures in Cuteness: Mitsuki Takahata in “Kahogo No Kahoko”

Mitsuki Takahata in Kahogo no Kahoko
Oh my GOSH, I just checked out the first episode of the whimsical drama “Kahogo No Kahoko (Overprotected Kahoko) “ and Mitsuki Takahata is simply KILLING me with her absolutely ADORABLE-NESS as the titular Kahoko!
as Kahoko Nemoto
Kahoko Nemoto is an unusual girl- she’s been brought up in a completely sheltered environment with an overprotective mother Izumi (Hitomi Kuroki) who decides every move and choice for her daughter, and a helpless father Masataka (Saburo Tokito), who, though he knows they are spoiling their daughter terribly, cannot bear to see her sad and will say anything to make her smile.
So centered around her life are the Nemotos that for entertainment, they watch childhood videos of Kahoko taken throughout the years, and she is brought up in such a warm and positive environment, she freely says “I am so cute in this video!” without any feeling of reservation, LOL!
Izumi has been grooming Kahoko for her eventual job interview, but as of yet, she has not been contacted for any of the jobs she has applied for. Nonetheless, the wide- eyed and innocent Kahoko faces each day with a happy and positive attitude and  only hopes for the best.
Her world gets shaken one day when, at the school office, she meets a young man named Mugino (Ryoma Takeuchi) who is carting around a painting. After accidentally bumping into Kahoko at the counter, he drops a used tube of paint which Kahoko then steadfastly tracks him down and returns.

Sitting down with her in the cafeteria, he is impressed with her lunch…til he finds that her “Mama” made everything for her. Talking further, he realizes how pampered she is, and as a guy struggling as a pizza delivery man, scolds her, telling her that spoiled little girls like her are what is wrong with the world.
“Parents spoil their children, the school pampers the parents, companies spoil employees, the government spoils officials… the country itself is becoming an overprotected kingdom!” he smirks, and Kahoko takes it hard.
That night, Father can sense something is amiss with his daughter. she isn’t her usual genki self, and Izumi tells him about the boy who told Kahoko her overprotection would be ruin of Japan. Father knows that if he was ever going to sit Kahoko down and tell her how the world really works and how they HAVE been overly pampering her, it is now…. but seeing his precious daughter so sad, he chickens out and simply says “Don’t worry about what anybody says…you’re FINE!” Seems like as far as her parents are concerned, Kahoko’s sheltered life will continue!
Harsh as he is, it looks like Mugino is the only one in Kahoko’s life who will give it to her straight. He blows up at her the following day when he finds her parents are having three separate birthday parties for her, grumbling once more about how pampering will bring the fall of Japan, but this doesn't stop the kind-hearted girl from inviting him to her party. "No time! Unlike you, I have a part-time job I NEED to be at!"
There's one hilarious moment when Kahoko shows interest in his painting, and it's here Mugino shows that he does have a nice side, proudly displaying his art for her. However, the innocent Kahoko doesn’t “get” his abstract art at ALL, LOL!
When Mugino finds that her “Papa” has set up a job interview for Kahoko, he chides her once again. “Is there something wrong with getting a job thru connections?” she wonders, to which he asks, “can't you choose your own job? Just what is it you want to work for?” This takes Kahoko for another loop. For she just isn’t passionate about anything.
That evening Kahoko and family get the call that she once again didn't get accepted for the job. And it's here that mom Izumi switches gears, telling Kahoko she should forget about pursuing  jobs, and instead strive to be a great HOUSEWIFE! And Kahoko naively and obediently accepts this.
When Mugino hears about it, however, he rants again, telling her she should decide for herself what to do with her future. When Kahoko sheepishly says she can't make any kind of decision because she's never worked a day in her life, Mugino tells Kahoko he will help her…by making her help out in some of his part-time jobs!
He takes Kahoko with him downtown to pass out tissue packets, (hilariously instructing her to be aggressive and shove the tissues in the people's faces, LOL) while he goes about delivering his pizzas....
... and when he comes back later and finds her struggling to pass them out, he has her run around the corner to deliver some pizzas he’s supposed to take while HE passes out the tissues. AHAHAHA!
Throughout the evening, as her parents worry away, Kahoko spends the night passing out flyers and delivering pizzas. And though he did it partly as a joke, Mugino comes to see that despite her being sheltered and pampered, she has a pure heart and is eager to work hard.
Grabbing a bite afterwards, Kahoko experiences for the first time how wonderful a meal tastes after a day of hard work! And with this, Kahoko starts a new step in life as a girl who is ready to step out into the real world and find the job that will satisfy her heart!!
I am really LOVING this show right now and can't wait to get into some more!!!!
