While a story of a man who suddenly has all the powers of a modern smartphone built into his head is certainly an intriguing one, the main reason I turned in the the humorous “Nou ni Sumaho ga Umerare” (Smartphone in the Brain) is when I saw the lead actress was going to be pretty Yua Shinkawa!
I was already interested in Yua from her beautiful (if all too brief) appearances in the Oda Yuji drama IQ246 as the jetset sister of Sharaku Honmoji, and I was ready to see her starring in a drama of her own and YES! She was as awesome as I’d expected!

Keita Orimo (Ito Atsushi) is a guy down on his luck- though he does his job efficiently, he is told he is in danger of being laid off. His co-workers all gather around him and offer support, but in the end he is told it is better to quit while he is ahead before being fired.
As he dejectedly makes his way home, he is suddenly struck by a strange meteor, causing him to black out.
When he awakes the next morning, he finds that he can see and hear everything going on on everyones’ cellphones around him! He can see their texts. He can see their apps working. He can even hear their music and see their purchases, all hovering above their heads.
When he awakes the next morning, he finds that he can see and hear everything going on on everyones’ cellphones around him! He can see their texts. He can see their apps working. He can even hear their music and see their purchases, all hovering above their heads.
Orimo is at a loss and has no idea what is going on until a mysterious woman enters the picture, walking past him with a message projected above her head saying “Hey You! Stop peeking at other’s messages!” This takes him for a loop- finally there is someone who seems to know what is happening to him.
The girl is Ryuko Ishino, a woman who works in the same company as him, and once she realizes that he DOES have the legendary “Smartphone in the head” affliction she’s heard about, she adheres herself to him to help him deal with his powers. A real novice in the age of super electronics, Orimo is lost when screen pop up around him at inopportune times, nd the savvy girl uses her knowledge to help him shut off, turn on and learn to use his phone powers best.
As she runs through the various ways he can use his new powers to his benefit, however, you see that the quirky girl has a motive all her own to help Orimo...for despite her cheerful and excitable outside, Ishino harbours a deep resentment for the Big Boss of the clothing company, the very sneaky and shady Jin Kurobe, and, as played by Goro Kishitani, you are already suspicious of his character from the second you meet him! She stares at him from off in the sidelines where she plans her revenge on him….
Looking like a mix between actresses Zooey Deschanel and Mikako Tabe, Yua Shinkawa totally embodies the spritely Ishino, with adorable facial expressions, slapstick physical gestures and always dressed in such beautiful clothing!!!
I am entranced by her every second she is onscreen, she is so charismatic! Definitely gonna be checking this one out!Posted by zdorama @ zdoramaagain.blogspot.com
