After stealing every scene she was in in the gripping "Anata No Ban Desu" Maxi-series as the feisty Nurse Ruri Sakuragi, actress Miwako Kakei succeeded in stealing my heart as well, and I was stunned to find that not only had she been in quite a few dramas before, lots of them were dramas I LOVED!
In full Miwako fan-Mode, I went back and dug up all the dramas I had which she'd appeared, and spent many a long evening re-watching them and of course screen-capping her appearances!
Miss Devil
I was to find that for the most part of her early career, Miwako was making a name for herself playing these super-dense "bimbo" types , and none represented the type more than her turn as the flirty Karen Nakayama! With her constant pouting and preening as she targeted the naive Shori Sato, she totally sold me, and re-watching it now, I can't believe I hadn't become a fan of hers from this point already!
Yuube wa Otanoshimi Deshita Ne
This one was really a surprise because I actually really loved her character of the cute and spazzy Ayano, and and had even made some screencaps of her. But when I finally got around to writing up my blog entry, I decided to make it short and sweet and cut the part about her! Imagine my surprise re-watching it and realizing it was Miwako!
As the best friend of Tsubasa Honda's Miyako, the vibrant (and clueless) Miwako was a great foil for Miyako's seriousness!
Fruits Delivery Service
With a show so chock-full of pretty and energetic girls you could see why didn't remember seeing her in this drama. But when I re-watched her episode, I was all like, "Oh MAN, I LOVED this girl!
As the very naughty and troublemaking Sakuranbo (a call-girl with a penchant for blackmailing her customers after their sessions), she was one of the girls I really dug, but still somehow managed to forget her!
Tokyo Tarareba Musume
This one was a very very small role as a screenwriter who visits Yuriko Yoshitaka's workplace (with a suspicious Ren Ishikawa looking on)...
Her appearance was so small I almost missed it, but it couldn't be smaller than her role in
Shitsuren Chocolatier-
The Jun Matsumoto/Satomi Ishihara drama was in fact Miwako's very first drama, and in her tiny role as a reporter who covers a Chocolate shop opening, not only does she appear for less than 5 seconds, It's in black and white!
Don't worry, Miwako, greater things are ahead!
As you can see by these screencaps, one of things that Miwako really excels at are her facial reactions- from laughing, gasping, growling, whispering and cheering, she twists her features into the most delightful of caricatures like a real-life anime character!
So animated and so full of unbridled energy, she is simply a JOY to watch, and I've GOT to see MORE! CHEERS to you, Miwako!!
