Tsubasa Honda is back in a new crime drama made especially for Amazon Prime's streaming service called THE CHASE!*
The Chase tells the story of a frustrated Assistant Director named Mai Aizawa (Honda) working for a Television Station's seedier section. She feels like she is in a dead-end position as morale there is low and no one feels like making an extra effort to do any true investigative journalism.
She is assigned the task of putting together a clip for an ongoing search for a missing girl by her immediate superior Hasegawa ( Goro "Mr. Kaori Okui" Kishitani)....
By chance when she is going through the footage of older crimes just like the current one, she realizes there is a similarity and significant pattern in all the cases!
She thinks she has the seeds of a huge story. But when she goes up to her department heads to get permission to do a follow-up, she is shot down.
When Hasegawa is finally convinced Aizawa is on to something, he takes steps to partner her up with an investigative journalist photographer named Kazuki Mikami (Ryohei Otani) and together the team goes to work connecting the dots to uncover the secrets of the sordid serial killings...
Man, Tsubasa Honda is on a ROLL lately, ain't she! Steadily becoming one of my favorite actresses with all the cool characters she's been playing, and her role of Mai Aizawa is yet another charismatic addition to her body of work!
*Hmm, didn't realize how late to the party I was till I found out that Amazon Prime had already released a second season of The Chase last year! Hmm, just like Mirei Kiritani's drama "Underwear", these online streaming site dramas really slip by and go under the radar! As more and more studios turn to sites like Netflix and Hulu, there's going to be a lot more shows out there!
