Very relaxing and gentle drama about a Doctor in Kyoto named Kukichi Kakinoki whose 20 year old daughter Miyako suddenly turns up at his door! He had not seen her since he divorced her mother some 12 years ago and barely recognizes her, when she suddenly announces that she is going to be living with him!
This drama features Kuranosuke Sasaki and Ryoko Fujino as the Father and Daughter, but the true star of the show is Kyoto itself, with every scene painted with the beautiful backdrop of the town in autumn.
Watching this drama, you almost feel like you've been visiting, and they even have a short clip at the end of each episode with actress Ryoko Fujino exploring Kyoto along with a guide!
As you all know, I love these slow-paced and thoughtful dramas like Mio Tsukushi wo Ryori-cho, where the story of the drama is less important than soaking up the atmosphere of the drama, and the visuals in Miyako Ga Kyoto are simply mesmerizing!
Very sad to see that this drama will only have 6 episodes. It’s another one that one can watch after a hard day at work or right before bed, and we need more of these!
PS: First time seeing adorable Ryoko Fujino who’s just perfect here as the precocious daughter slowly learning to become friends with her father and take in the soothing vibes of Kyoto…
