Just started watching the 2018 drama “Tantei ga Hayasugiru” and really liking it so far!
I’ve been a fan of Actress Alice Hirose ever since her tuff character of Makoto Takamura in “Harassment Game” and have been waiting to see more of her, and with this drama, Alice gets to show off her girlish side!
Alice stars as Ichika Sogawa, a seemingly struggling teenager who never seems to have enough money to do the things she wants. Even worse, ever since her father passed away, she has been rasied by her housekeeper, the uber-strict Hashida (Miki Mizuno) who intends to turn Ichika into a refined young lady if it kills her, drilling her constantly about her table manners and speech.
It’s all too much and she complains to her friends that all she wants to be is a regular teenager. But fate has something planned for her that will change her life around!
As Ichika is heading home one day, someone violently shoves her into the street, right in front of a speeding vehicle!
Though Ichika survives the attack, getting away with a few fractures and bruises, it is clear that there are people out there trying to hurt her, and it’s here that Hashida calls in the eccentric detective Hikaru Chikumagawa, a brash and outspoken detective with zero social skills but a knack for solving cases!
Another attempt on Ichika’s life is made, but with the swift thinking of Chikumagawa, involving a poisonous spider, it is averted.Why have all of these attempts been made on Ichika’s life?
It all comes clear when it is revealed that Ichika has been named sole inheritor of her late Father’s fortune- a whopping 5 TRILLION dollars…and that ALL of her greedy relatives have been plotting to kill her and get the fortune for themselves!

With incompetent cousins Miruko (Renn Kiriyama) and Mayumi (Moe Yuki) trying again and again to get Ichika (it was them that planned both the shoving in the street AND the spider attack) and failing, it’s all their Mother Akedori (played with delicious aplomb by Nagisa Katahira) can do to keep calm!
In the end, she makes a deal with all of the greedy relatives who have been clamoring for a piece of the fortune: The FIRST one to successfully knock off Ichika will be the SOLE winner of the fortune!
From the moment Ichika and Chikumagawa meet, they butt heads, and Ichika wants nothing to do with him!But as the days go by and with so many people wanting her DEAD, she’ll have to get used to this quirky detective being by her side!!!
This is one VERY wacky drama, and with Alice Hirose at the helm it looks to be a FUN romp and I’ve been digging it so far!!!
