Keiko Kitagawa and Eita in “Rikokatsu”

After being rescued by stoic Military man Koichi Obara (Eita) while stranded during a skiing trip, svelte fashion writer Saki Mizuguchi (Keiko Kitagawa) immediately becomes star-struck by her savoir, and upon his proposal, the two waste no time having a quick, whirlwind marriage!
At the wedding reception, it is clear the the two come from completely different backgrounds. Saki comes from a stylish and carefree family, with Shiro Sano and Kotono Mitsuishi as the radiant Father and Mother, while Koichi comes from a cold and strict upbringing with Yoshi Sakou and Yoshiko Miyazaki as the reserved parents.
Still,Love surely conquers all, and the two go into the union with optimism that things will work out just like they’ve always dreamed of!
But no sooner have the two begun living together and their differences become readily apparent. Saki is startled awake in the morning where she learns that Koichi begins his day at a prompt 4;00AM!!
Rousted out of bed, the sleepy Sak learns of his expectation that she will have his breakfast  ready for him,  a task she is totally unprepared (and unskilled) for!!
A hasty breakfast made up of convenience store foods!!!
And most surprising of all, there’s the declaration of RULES set down by Koichi that must be followed in order for a well-functioning family!!! WHAAAT!
"He has you following these rules???"
Even Saki's best friend Natsumi (Ito Ohno) cannot believe what she is seeing!
q
Additionally, the two find out that their tastes are complete opposites: Kochi is put off by Saki’s extravagant nature, vetoing her choices for something more frugal.  As a fashion conscious professional, this is hard for Saki to look past, but she abides it for the time being...
Saki has another situation on her plate, dealing with a jealous young rival (Rena Takeda) who is convinced Saki is getting special treatment by their simping supervisor (Tenma Matsunaga) and is trying to get her ousted out of her own projects..
Between this and housework, Saki is struggling to make her husband's meals on time...and it is truly frustrating when he ends up not coming home at all, citing his job as top priority!
In the end, it all comes to a head and the newlyweds shout out their pent-up grievances at each other, ultimately ending with the two deciding that they should get a DIVORCE!
"...and what is up with these ridiculous RULES???" asks Saki
In what should be the young couple’s first dinner with Koichi’s parents, they decide to confess their withdrawal and divorce to the parents...
...b
ut before they can say a word about it, Koichi's parents announce that THEY are going to get a divorce!
Seems they’ve been waiting for Koichi to get married before they announced it, and now that he is newly hitched, they are ready to life separate lives!
WELL! Koichi and Saki are speechless and end up keeping their own divorce to themselves. And when Saki finds out that her OWN parents are at the point of a separation THEMSELVES, it’s all the married young couple can do to keep their own problems under wraps until everyone ELSE can get sorted out!
There’s this one side storyline with a girl named Jun Ichinose (Momoko Tanabe) in the military who seems to secretly like Koichi, and though of course I hope for Koichi and Saki’s resolution, could be interesting to see where their relationship goes.
So far, seems like a very ‘busy” drama with a million characters doing their thing, but hopefully this drama will settle down and ‘gel” in a few episodes. Honestly, I didn’t really get into it until the couple had their blow-up, with Keiko and Eita giving it their all!  Only then did it seem like there was some fire in this story!! But we will see...
