Battle Of The Classes: "Parasite"

Just finished watching Bong Hoon Jo's Korean Black Comedy "Parasite", the much-talked-about film a poor family who con their way into becoming employees of an affluent Family until secrets are revealed, truths are exposed, and things splinter into mayhem...
The first half of the movie seems very light and fun, almost like I was watching a K-drama, as we are introduced to the poor but close-knit Kim family and the rich but detached Park family.

Son Ki-woo (Choi WooShik) fakes credentials to become tutor to the Park's daughter and, upon realizing that the Park Mother Yeoungyo (Cho Yeojeoung) is a bit naive about things...
...manages to con her into hiring his sister (the very pretty Park Sodam) as the Park's young son's art teacher as well.
Sensing an opportunity, They make plans to get the housekeeper and limo driver fired, and eventually manage to get Father (Song Kang-ho) and Mother (Chang Hyae-jin) employed in their stead. Suddenly the whole house is run by the Kims with the Parks oblivious to the con.
For a brief while, the Kims are living the high life as the Parks' employees (even having parties and gorging on their food and drink when the family is out)...
...but there is something sinister about the huge mansion and there are dark secrets hidden within the walls.Suddenly, the film shifts moods and it feels more like we are watching a horror movie with danger and death around every corner.
And as the film builds up, the Poor class is pit against the Rich class and as all the facades fall, it's hard to determine who the parasitic ones are and who the just are!
After I had finished watching it, my initial reaction was something like , "Huh. That was one CRAZy and eccentric flick!!"But the more I thought of it, the more I realized how layered the movie was, with all the picturesque symbolism and double-meanings in the objects and actions of the film.
Going onto the film forums and doing some reading, there were people who pointed out aspects I hadn't thought of, and others who solidified my own personal perceptions of the film. There were also many whom I vehemently disagreed with, but in the end it was just great to have such a rousing discussion about a film again!

Sex And The Single Girls

Raise de wa Chanto Shimasu (I'll Live Properly In My Next Life) follows the sexual lives (or lack thereof) of two girls working at a production company-
one, the extravagant and outgoing Momoe Omori (Rio Uchida) who juggles five different boyfriends every day...

...and the bookwormish Ume Takasugi (Rina Ohta), a self-professed virgin whose only loves are yaoi manga and crashing at the company.
The girls  really get detailed about their various desires and the conversations can get pretty racy, from scenes of Ume telling Momoe that her only passion is taking a dump...
...To Momoe's' giggly proclamation that she and her boyfriend have started doing Butt Sex!
LOL, Ume's facial reactions are the best here, HAHA
You'd think such a bawdy drama would be too hot for television, but it's done so cutely that, scorching dialog aside, is actually a fairly sweet show!
Truly, aside from the girls' engaging talk of  things like "Doing It Up the Butt"), the most scandalous you ever see are is a random brassiere hanging off a hanger!
Even the sexually active Momoe is always dressed in very modest and innocent clothing, which adds to the shows' cute concept- in fact, feels very much like you're reading a manga!
Gotta see MORE of this one!!
PS: I was POSITIVE I had seen Rina in something before. And poring over her asianwiki stats, sure enough, Rina was one of the four girls in the wacky Yuko Araki drama "Love Love Alien" that I watched JUST a few weeks ago in a fit of Yuko Araki fanboying!
GREAT to see Rina in a more starring role, I simply love her here!
Ninja Edit: Reading the MyDramaList synopsis, looks like despite my saying the that drama was about the two girls, looks like it will be focusing on FIVE characters, the two girls AND the three loser guys that work with them as well. My Bad.

What the Effing Hell...?

From Arama Japan:
This falls under the "All Men are Scumbags" department. What a Jackass!
Erika seemed like such a sweet, innocent thang in Nagi Wa Oitoma", but I guess her role of the girl trying to come between Haru and Issei was more spot on than we thought!
And poor Anne. How could she have not suspected his slimy shenangans after three years(!) They're now separated and who knows what will happen next.
Guess I know what will be playing over and over again on the Japan News this weekend!!

Springtime For Sera (and Zdorama)

As you may remember, luscious chanteuse Ryu Sera was my beloved bias for the turbulent group NINE MUSES, and though I  was introduced to them in 2012 along with KARA and SNSD, it wasn't until 2014 with their song "Gun" that I became a fan proper and began picking up their albums (and back albums)..
But it wasn't too long before we learned that a huge chunk of the original group would be leaving once their contracts were up, and among them was Ryu Sera, a bit of bad news I mooned over incessantly!
At the time I mentioned that she had started a youtube channel with Sera doing little songs and performances, and I'd sometimes check in on what she was up to. In recent months, Sera's channel became more of a broader "K-Pop" channel, (dubbed "Ryutube") with Sera watching and introducing her viewers to and talking about current K-pop acts.
This seemed to work for her as her channel got a huge boost and it was a cute way for those of us who love her to hear and see who she was listening to nowadays. Additionally, Sera hosted the show in both Korean AND English, making it very welcoming for Yankee speaker like me!
So, a few weeks back, Sera took it upon herself to dig up her original Nine Muses videos and do commentary with it as we watched together.
Oh MAN, it was so much fun, with Sera giving fun and insightful trivia into the video shooting, management, etc, and in NO TIME, she was dancing and singing along as if she'd never left!
This video also did one more thing: Remind me of how much I freaking LOVED her back in her Nine Muses days! I've been so used to seeing the modern day Sera on her channel, I have to say i'd completely forgotten how much of a "sex kitten" she was in the group at the time!!!
Below: LOL moment: When the MV cut to Sera sexily belting out her parts,  she playfully takes out a mirror and checks herself in it, as if to say, "Ya know...I'm still a cutie when you get right down to it!" LOLOL
Such a thrill to go along with her on this jam-packed trip full of nostalgia!
