Octo: Kanjou Sousakan Shinno Akari

Kodai Asaka and Marie Iitoyo
New Crime drama "Octo: Kanjou Sousakan Shinno Akari" gives us the innovative idea about a girl who can see emotions of people...simply by the colors they give off!!
Ryo Kazehaya (Asaka Kodai) has just been transferred to the Crime Division of the Police Department where he is paired up with an introverted and shy woman named Akari Shinno (Marie Iitoyo) .
During the interrogation of a murder suspect, Kazehaya is trying to get the facts of the case- when Shinno pulls out a sketchbook and pastels and begins scribbling colors onto the blank pages.

It’s here he finds out that this girl can see the emotions of the suspects by the colors emanating from their eyes, and, using this talent as a sort of Lie detector test, digs to get to the real intention of the suspect! Some colors represent outrage. Some reveal hate and others guilt. All of this paints a picture which tells the true story.

This is NOT the way Kazehaya likes to conduct his investigations, however, and asks Section Chief Kumokawa (Takeshi Yamanaka) to pair him with someone else. But the chief seems to have a soft spot for Shinno and advises Kazehaya get used to her methods.
This will be harder than it sounds with two totally different people trying to work a case, with one hard as nails and the other a recluse of sorts!!!
The title “Octo” comes from the theory that there are 8 basic emotions which control us, (as well as a multitude of combinations of the 8), represented by colors on the chart. As Dr. Komoto (Asami Usuda) explains to the perplexed Detective. it's all so new to him.
After repeated interrogations, Shinno has finally gathered enough “colors” to break the case and she lays out all the scribbles she’s made over the days onto the floor and , looking over the entire "picture", is able to determine the person’s “True Color”!
"I found It. The True Color."
Such a great "gimmick" for a crime show, (though admittedly the first case wasn't too thrilling) I'm interested to see where they go with this premise!

Special Delivery from Marie Iitoyo in “Sono Goen Otodokeshimasu”

This humble drama reminded me a bit of “Midnight Diner”- that show featured “slice of life” stories based around a hole in the wall Izakaya; in "Sono Goen, Otodokeshimasu: Mercari de Atta Honto no Hanashi" , these stories are centered around the packages that a young girl named Riko Kuroe (Marie Iitoyo) delivers, and how they touch and affect both the sender and the recipient!
In the first tale we have Kuroe deliver a DVD of an old rock band named Mighty Ducks to a young fan named Takayuki (Mizuki Itagaki) who recently discovered them on Youtube.
As a lonely guy who is constantly bullied by his peers, he finds strength in the Mighty Ducks music and has become obsessed with them, ordering collectibles online to feed his fandom!
What Takayuki doesn’t know is that the vendor selling him the Mighty Ducks goods is none other than Miyashita, (Asaka Kodai) the former lead singer of Mighty Ducks!  With his youthful heyday long behind him, Miyashita has put his old music career behind him and has been try to move on into the “real” world.
Very nice story of two guys: one a young, enthusiastic hopeful boy with a love of music and dreams of a career in rock, and the other, a bitter, jaded musician who has faced the hard reality of  the music business and has given up. Together, they manage to inspire each other.
And of course, between them all is Kuroe, delivering through packages the expressions that the two want to convey to each other!
Not sure how involved we are going to get with Kuroe’s personal life in this show, like Midnight Diner’s Master, it seems they are the fixtures that encourage the catalysts that form their customers stories...
A VERY relaxing and thoughtful show to watch at the end of a long day!
