The (Un)Luck of the Draw with "Unlucky Girl"

Haruka Fukuhara in her hands-down CUTEST role yet, the “Unluckiest Girl In The World” Sachi Fukura in the spirited comedy drama "Unlucky Girl"!!!!
Sachi has been unlucky since the day she was born and her Father submitted her name registration with a name one stroke shy of good luck. Nothing ever goes right for her. When she lifts her garbage to take out, the bags leak.  Her pictures fall off her wall and when she goes to pick it up, she steps on a tack. And when she makes it to the trash, she trips and flies headlong into the smelly pile!
Anyone else would have given up and become a sullen and cynical person. But Sachi actually embraces her bad luck like a pet- instead of lamenting  her misfortune, she marks how many bad things happen to her each day like a score on her calendar. The way she sees it, her misfortune may be good luck for those around her, and thus the kind-hearted girl works at a lottery booth, hoping her BAD luck might transfer over into GOOD luck for her customers!
By chance there also happen to be two other women with similar bad luck living in the same town who will all cross paths…There is pretty Kaoru Asakura (Yumi Wakatsuki) who, in addition to losing the heel of her shoe, is dealing with a bum of a boyfriend Takumi (Izuki Itagaki) who is threatening to rob a bank to make some money-
And then there is stoic Rei Anayami (Rin Takanashi) who has just torn the sleeve of her smart office coat while finding out that the guy who promised to help find her a job has no intention of doing so.

Both have congregated in a coffee shop where the mysterious fortune teller Keitoku Ibusuki (Namase Katsuhisa) holds residence, and he is thrilled by the powerful negative vibes coming off these two women!
Noting  that these are two VERY unlucky gals, he is in for a wallop when the naive Sachi stumbles in for a meal. Her “unlucky Aura” is so strong that Ibusuki immediately recognizes her as a supreme misfortune talent! He doesn't know it, but he will be seeing more of these three ladies very soon....
Later that day Sachi is at her lottery job when Kaoru appears, wanting to blow her load on a wad of tickets. Sachi tries to talk her out of it, in the meantime a magnifying glass on the counter sets a piece of paper alight, and soon the entire booth is engulfed in flames!
At that moment Rei also happens to pass by, and the three try in vain (and ineptly, to be honest) to put out the fire.
Later they are back at the cafe going over the catastrophic events, and this time Ibusuki cannot contain himself. he strides over and introduces himself as a Fortune Teller and, laying out his cards, offers to read for each girl.
At first reluctant, in the end, all three of them sit in the hot seat and learn what they pretty much knew all along- that they are unlucky and walking down dead end roads.
Among them all, Sachi of course is the only one not put out by the news, musing (whenever anything bad happens to her) “at least I’m not being attacked by a serial killer!”
The three go on their separate ways, but after a merry ride of misfortune (resulting in Sachi covered in mud), the three happen to meet once again and, thinking it is fate, Sachi asks their names.
Kaoru invites the two to her house, and after Sachi has had a chance to wash up, the three have a nice talk where Sachi shares her theory of her bad luck as good luck for others.
The others can’t quite believe how this supremely unlucky girl can be so optimistic, but just then, a chain of events happen that wonderfully reinforces Sachi’s beliefs that every bad thing happens for a reason, proof that even the pessimistic Rei and Kaoru must agree on!
And thus the three misfit girls become friends, bound together by their shared misfortune!!
I love these well-written scenarios where every little detail adds up to something in the end and was giddy as the story played out, how every bad thing that happened turned out in their favor, and I hope to see more like this.
This is an ensemble cast of three girls, but make no mistake, this drama TOTALLY belongs to Haruka Fukuhara who is simpl KILLING ME with her sweet, sweet, innocent and warm ways! her eternally optimistic outlook is so wonderful to see, and I love how they show how her positive belief in her bad luck indeed helps others.
Sucha sweet and fun little show!!! Had been DYING to check out Unlucky Girl for some time and finally subber lilactangerine came to my rescue!!! Much love to the team for translating this sweet and wonderful drama!!!
