Girl's Day gif Goes Viral!

A gif called "A Cute Girl's Wave Leads To Chaos" shot up to the top of the gifs page on reddit, and I was highly amused to see the girls in the gif were none other than Girl's Day, and the Girl waving her hand that started all the chaos was none other than the sensually smokin' Sojin!
The girls were on hand to perform for the military boys and though it looks like it was Sojin's warm gesture that set the boys mad, comments online say it was in fact an announcement of prizes for the first five guys up there. Maybe they thought Sojin was the prize!

Hyeri Still My Girl's Day Bias

Hyeri on this past week's RUNNING MAN
There was a brief time when Hyeri was Korea's "it" girl and out there stealing everybody's hearts, but inevitably there came the backlash where people were tired of her cutesy antics, and I wasn't surprised when I saw a recent popularity poll ranking Girls Day biases and Hyeri came out dead last.
But ya know, I just caught Hyeri in a recent RUNNING MAN from a few weeks back, and I mean to tell you, she is STILL as freaking adorable as ever!
She is still the giggly and squeaky girl that won my heart over all those years ago and still such a  joy to watch in action! From her Opening interactions with Jaesuk and Sukjin (where Jaesuk convinces Hyeri to pretend Sukjin came in first place), that patented eye-smile was simply beaming...
To her befuddled attempts at trying to navigate the journey using a map book (until Jaesuk laughed and said, "You'd better let me look at that, Hyeri, LOL"..
Her nailbiting moments at the brain-quiz up against a computer...
...and most hilariously, watching Hyeri trying to beat an automated machine trying to see who could pop the most balloons faster, oh my GOSH was this FUN to watch!
Yeah, Hyeri may have dropped out of the public's conscious as the gal of the moment, but for me she will always be the reason to keep up with Girl's Day! You GO, Girl!

A Dose of Girl's Day

My Latest Girl's Day Shipment!
As you all know, the first two GIRL’S DAY purchases I bought were the girls’ latest album GIRL’S DAY EVERYDAY4 ‘Summer Party” and their first full-album EXPECTATION. Well, my love for Sojin, Yura, Minah and Hyeri has come to the point where I knew I had to get all the rest of their catalog, at least the releases that were still available! Going onto ebay, I managed to get my hands on FOUR of their back albums, GIRL’S DAY EVERYDAY, GIRL’S DAY EVERYDAY II, GIRL’S DAY EVERYDAY3 “Something” and the EXPECTATION repackage album FEMALE PRESIDENT!
I’ve been spending the past half hour poring through the booklets for each of the releases, and it’s like having 4 photo books! The girls look so good in the shots, Female President in particular, the girls look sooooo damn FINE, especially YURA for some reason!
Above and Below: The Lovely Yura
Another great bonus for me was that when I purchased Female President,  I didn’t realize the release came with a huge POSTER!!!!  Funny that originally, I didn't care too much for the picture, now that I've got a huge pinup of it., it' looks great, LOL!
Ah, with Yura on We Got Married right now, I’m really getting a good daily dose of Girl’s Day, each day I’m loving ‘em more and more!

Girl's Day Has Arrived!!

YESSS! Looks like the DAI5Y Gods are looking down on me, for when I came home today after shopping, lo and behold, my very FIRST Girl’s Day Purchase arrived!!!! I'd ordered their latest album DARLING along with their earlier release EXPECTATION- Both Albums are so, so beautiful (Both of them photobooks, Darling a softcover with a transparent slipcover, and the girls’ Expectation a hardcover.
Since I ordered my Girl’s Day CDs from CD Japan (I know you’re thinking, why order K-POP through a JAPAN site, but I had lots of points saved which I put to good use here!) I wasn’t sure if it was going to come with any goodies since it was an “import”, WOW was I STOKED to see that Darling came with a POSTER!!! So nice, and if that wasn’t enough, the bonus trading card that came with it was none other than…HYERI!!!!!!!! YES! My Girl’s Day BIAS!!!! Every Day IS Girl’s Day!!!!!
As you may have guessed reading my blog here for the past three weeks or so, I have been REALLY getting into this group! Thanks to the plethora of English subtitled variety shows Girl's Day have been a part of, I'm getting to know these girls better and better....
Their most recent appearance on Weekly Idol (the show that, more than any other, does a great job of introducing you to the members of Idol Groups)from early this year has FINALLY been re-uploaded with English Subtitles (it had been taken down some time before), and I couldn't be loving them more! I had seen the episode before unsubbed, but while I was able to enjoy their epic tug-of-war battle with the two hosts Defconn and Hyungdon, the show is really based on playful insults and witty banter, so having it translated makes ALL the difference!

The Joy of Eating with Hyeri

Watching the latest episode of Foodie show King Of Food where Girl's Day cutie Hyeri guested, and I can't stop rewinding and replaying the scene where she's eating the Grilled Butter Abalone… the Girl's Day members are pretty famous for their love of eating, having Hyeri on a gourmet chef show like this is PERFECT, because her desire to partake in the food being served makes the dishes seem even  more fantastic, and her reactions are entertaining beyond belief!
While showing video clips of the live seafood they’re going to be served, Hyeri is already clasping her hands in anticipation of tasting it, and even before the food is cooked, Hyeri is already doing the happy dance, while the other guests are sitting, Hyeri is on her knees hopping about, ready to dig in! LOL
The two teams play games to see who gets to eat the seafood dish, and when the girls win, Hyeri looks like she's just won a million dollars! Watching it being prepared, she is simply beside herself, and once the Grilled Abalone is served up, Hyeri eats with such excitement and happiness, even the other guests praise her, “Hyeri Knows How To Eat… She Enjoys her Food!” LOL, look at that happy face!

The History Of Girl's Day with "Kira Kira SLIM"

Yura, Jihae, Minah, Sojin and Hyeri
Having only recently gotten fully into Girl’s Day, it’s been great watching their Japanese(!) reality show “Kira Kira Slim” because it’s really given me a lot of insight into the girls personalities. The show is pretty old (aired around 2010-2011) and they may have changed a bit since then, but it still gave me a new and fuller appreciation for each member. Watching this show I realize how each girl has their own distinct style.
Girl's Day Leader Sojin
I always knew Sojin was the Leader, but I never knew how authoritative and more mature than the others she was. Seeing her take command hosting their trip to Hongdae, doing all the talking and introducing all the famous eateries on the strip, she was really knowledgeable and you could see the other girls looking up to her.
Yura and Jihae
For the first time I am getting to know Jihae. She officially left the group late 2012, but even before that she hadn’t appeared with them for awhile, so I never got to see her in any of the performances I saw. A very pretty girl, Jihae’s role in the group seemed to be the stylish and girly girl, always with very sexy dresses  and skirts. I still am not real sure about why she left the group, she seemed to fit in well and looks happy here, anyway.
Now, I think I mentioned before that I originally thought Yura was the maknae, watching these old shows, I think it even MORE, she REALLY is like this adorable and innocent little sister. There was this scene where Jihae was taking Yura with her looking at accessories and it was really cute how they seemed like a big sister and a little sister!
Hilariously Frustrated Hyeri
Like I mentioned before, I really dig how goofy and spastic Hyeri is. I’m so used to seeing her as this very elegant looking model-type, seeing her running around hugging on everyone and tomboyishly laughing her wide-mouthed guffaws, I love how playful she is, I can still see that impish glee in her now.
Yura and Minah
I was really surprised by how down-to-earth Minah was back when this show was airing. Far from the pretty frontwoman we see nowadays, Back then she seemed like the fun, dorky girl, the one that seemed like she would be you best friend. No makeup and wearing glasses, a girl really cool and comfortable with who she is, someone you’d like to just hang out with!
I’m about halfway through Kira Kira Slim’s 26 Episode run, and with each chapter, I’m getting to know them better and better!!

Babes Make The Dream Team!!

Hyeri, Serri, SeungAh and Dahye
Just caught the latest episode of Korean sports variety show “Let’s Go Dream Team II” where I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were four pretty idols as guests- Serri from Dal Shabet, SeungAh from Rainbow, and in a lucky bit of timing, my newly discovered Girl’s Day bias Hyeri!!!
What Luck!!! Three girls from some of my FAVORITE K-pop Idol Groups!!! The fourth girl was Dahye of BESTie whom I actually didn’t know, but I was sure to remember her after this show, because damn was she pretty!
Hyeri of Girl's Day
SeungAh of Rainbow
Serri of Dal Shabet
Dahye of BESTie
Aww, this was such a fun episode, the girls were really into it, ESPECIALLY Hyeri who was laughing and cheering like she was a regular part of the cast, additionally. that episode’s Water-Park Themed Challenge ensured I’d get to see all four girls in wet t-shirts throughout the entire show...I gotta admit, it was very enticing to see their flower-printed bikinis peeking through the wet shirts like Hyeri's in the screencap below:
It was fun watching the girls in each of the many challenges, but the absolute highlight was when they got to the last segment where teammates had to force opponents off the platforms into the water via foam “battering ram blocks”, and they had all four girls up against each other, Serri and Hyeri on one team, and Seungah and Dahye on the other!
I’d seen Serri kicking butt in several of these Challenge shows before (most recently the mud-wrestling episode), so I knew she had the strength and skills to be a major player, but it was a surprise to see how tuff Dahye was! SeungAh was a spirited great asset to her team, but poor slight Hyeri was hilariously just as much a powderpuff that you’d expect from the diminutive girl, LOL! This was quite a show, and a GREAT experience for a new Hyeri/Girl's Day fan to enjoy!

Today, It’s (Finally) Girl’s Day!!

Everyday, Girl's Day!
Girl’s Day was one of the few K-pop Idol girl groups that never really got into despite the fact that I’ve loved just about every album and single they’ve released- through forums I managed to get just about all of their albums in MP3 format and was constantly amazed by how every album had such SOLID, catchy pop- perfect tunes, but unlike a lot of other groups, I never felt like actually venturing further into their fandom and finding out more about the girls.
Well, the time has finally come to acknowledge how freaking GREAT these girls are- with the release of their latest single “Darling”, my admiration for them finally SPILLED OVER into true fan LOVE, and at LAST I’ve gone out and ordered some of their albums to own and cherish! Along with their latest album “Girls Day Summer Party” (featuring the aforementioned song “Darling”) I also ordered another past favorite of mine, their excellent album “Expectation”, and I’m sure I’ll be ordering even more in the coming days!
I think part of the reason that I never tried to get their physical CDs before was that their very first EP “Girl’s Day Party #1” was no longer available, this CD featured two of my favorite songs from them, “Shuppy Shuppy”  and “Gyattung”, and I guess I figured if I couldn’t own THAT album, why bother with some of the other ones? But it finally came to the point where the omission of Girl’s Day in my K-pop collection couldn't be ignored and I had to pick up whatever I could!
A group full of fun personalities!
Another element that took me awhile to realize is how much fun the individual members are, now that I’m FINALLY getting around to KNOWING them. Just like other K-pop acts, it was seeing them on shows like “Weekly Idol” that I got to see the group’s “dynamic” and see what each member’s “role” was in the group, as well as their individual personalities and quirks. Up until then, just about the only girl I knew was Minah, whom I referred to mostly as “that loud-mouthed chick who always wants attention”.
Girl's Day: Minah
This changed the first time I saw older fancam footage of the girls doing appearances when they were just starting out, and saw that her zaniness (as far as I could discern) didn’t seem to be an act she put on, she was JUST as loud, goofy and zany when she was performing in small venues for small crowds!
Girl's Day's resident silly girl Minah
Then as I saw her on shows I realized that she was actually very sweet, though with a very rough tomboyish kind of veneer. Plus, she has a deep, strong voice that really like...at first I didn't know who was singing what lines in the songs, but seeing them perform I found out that every line I really liked ended up being sung by Minah- a very husky voice. Now I love her!
Girl's Day Innocent Yura
Yura always struck me as the one in the background, and whenever the group would come out in matching outfits with slight variations, they always gave her the playful, childish one (like overalls, suspenders, etc) and it wasn’t until I saw her on variety shows that I realized it was because she was the “innocent” one in the group. Now her image totally matches her and she makes me smile with her naïve and adorable comments and questions!
Yura walking into the back wall, LOLOL
I don’t think you can get the full Yura effect until you’ve seen her on Weekly Idol, giggling and squealing with delight at the various pranks and games they’re playing. There was this one time on the show where they were teasing her about how loud she sounded eating, she jokingly ran off...right into the back wall! As the other members fell about themselves cracking up, host Hyungdon laughed and said, “She really IS innocent!” Yura really has this adorable wide-eyed aura that makes me see her as a precious member!
The always smiling Yura
Sojin. Now onto the subject of Sojin. The first time I remember seeing her was for an old “Idol Olympics” special, and at the time, I thought she was rather rough-looking. I’d read people online saying how “hot” she was and think, “Man, was I looking at the same girl?”
Sexy Leader Sojin
Fast forward two years and I’m seeing this performance of the girls doing “Please Tell Me” on a music show, and I am just FLOORED by how goddamn PRETTY Sojin is! Had to rub my eyes and do a double take! “Is THIS the same girl from the Idol Olympics!?”
Sojin heating things up on Weekly Idol
Now I know she’s the oldest member as well as the leader of Girl’s Day, so my respect for her has grown a lot, and additionally, on shows like Weekly Idol, Sojin shows how much charisma she has as the group’s mature member and she really DOES have a LOT of sexy charms, wow, NOW I GET IT!
My Girl's Day bias, the pretty Hyeri
And lastly we have Hyeri, my Girl’s Day bias! The first time I noticed her was when her hair was longer and wavier, (this was during their “Don’t Forget Me” promotions) she reminded me so much of Kara’s Goo Hara and APink’s Son Naeun (and even a bit of Amuro Namie) with her “Fairy-Dol” look, I was instantly enamored!
Besides her gorgeous looks, Hyeri is really outspoken and a really great "reactionist", like Minah, she's a bit of a tomboy and doesn't mind getting rough with the hosts! Plus she has these incredibly expressive eyebrows that make everything seem so...interesting!!!!
My love for Hyeri took a hit when she cut her hair short into a bob style for most of Expectation, but even then she still managed to captivate me with every appearance. And now, with the "Darling" promotion, MAN, she’s looking more luscious than EVER, so girly and cute, just simply stunning!
Hyeri in the "Darling" Music Video, so sassy!
SO YEAH, Girl's day has entered my short list of favorite K-pop artists- It’s funny because for years, every time Girl’s Day name would come up, my friend Car would say “I bet they become your next favorite group”, since it was true that I liked every release they put out (especially “Female President” which I particularly loved)  and now with their newest song Darling, I can finally say that “Everyday is Girl’s Day”!
