So No Otoko, Ishiki Takai Kei: One Nutty Drama

Ayumi Ito and Kento Hayashi in Sono Otoko Ishiki Takai Kei
It was a fairly exasperating experience watching the new Ayumi Ito/Kento Hayashi drama “Sono Otoko Ishiki Takai Kei”. This drama dealt with the new phenomena plaguing the employee hiring marketplace- new recruits who are all talk and no substance. These new generation kids consider themselves hot properties that any company would want to snatch up...despite not having any real thing to offer.
Such is the case with new employee Joe Ichijo (Hayashi). Selling himself as a man with a million ideas, when poor Haruko Tsubokura (Ito) is ordered to make him part of her team, she realizes he is full of catch phrases and peppy gestures, but counts on HER to actually come up with the product!
Arghhh, this dude was driving me crazy throughout the show- bad enough I have to deal with these kind of people in my REAL work place, I don’t need to see them in my dramas! And it made it worse ‘cause I really liked Ayumi Ito’s character here (in fact, she reminded  a bit of Fumino Kimura, another recent fave of mine)
Ah, but aside from the show’s general nuttiness, there WERE some things that kept me around for the long haul: besides Ayumi Ito, there was Aimi Satsukawa as Joe’s over-the-top American Hollywood girlfriend (she stole the scenes she was in), and on the other end of the spectrum we had beautiful Mao Daichi as the company’s stern but insightful president Ranko Saotome.
 Aimi Satsukawa
Mao Daichi
It was THESE characters that made an otherwise irritating show into something watchable, LOL!
