Just watched the first episode of “Samayou Yabai” and I gotta say how disturbing it was to watch. Truthfully, I had to fast forward through some scenes and I can’t remember watching something this graphic before?
Yutaka Takenouchi is Shigeki Nagamine, a father who seeks revenge when his daughter is brutally drugged, raped and murdered. Watching the events unfurl as he extracts his revenge on the youths responsible, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feel? Am I supposed to feel appalled at his cruel retaliation towards the punks, because I absolutely wasn’t- I was totally on Nagamine’s side. It’s like the Samuel Jackson character in “A Time To Kill”…you see why he resorts to what he does.Frankly, if this drama is going to try and paint the murderers in a sympathetic light, then I’m definitely bailing out. I think these kids are freaking evil (well, except for that one kid with a conscience) and I’m not interested seeing in how hard it is for them and their families… I’ll cautiously see where this drama goes.
I’m already dealing with this narrative of sympathy for criminals in “Saiai” where you’re supposed to feel bad for what happened to a guy who drug and date raped countless women. Screw that guy!!!
