Just checked out the first episode of the new drama "Riso No Kareshi", and while it's plot is almost an exact situation of the Erina Mano drama "Kareshi Loan De Kaemashita", it is so wonderful to see my dear Aya Oomasa again, and in a starring vehicle, no less!!!
Like Kareshi Loan, Riso No Kareshi begins with a bright and capable office woman named Yumeko Onodera (Oomasa) who is seemingly on top of the world: She's smart, beautiful, is working a high profile job and has a catch of a boyfriend with promises of marriage on the way!
One day when she is about to catch a flight at an airport, she comes upon a hapless man (Taiki Sato)who has lost his wallet. He is frantic because he needs to get home to see his sick grandmother. The kind Yumeko hears his plight and offers him the money to buy his ticket, much to the young man's surprise!!!
It is of course from the goodness of Yumeko's own heart...and also from the fact that he is a dead ringer for her high school first love Nozomu Jinguji, an unrequited love that she's kept in her heart all these years.

The flabbergasted man accepts the money and promises profusely to repay her, but Yumeko waves it off. When you're doing well, why not help someone in need?

But little does Yumeko know that her success is about to hit a hitch- it all comes crashing down when one day, because of a false accusation of power harassment by a scheming underling, she gets in trouble with her superiors at work...

She is still dealing with the shock when she comes home to find her fiance is not only cheating on her, but announces that he has no interest in marrying her, nor ever truly intended to!
Rushing out to the street, she collapses in tears, when who should approach her but that young man she saved from the airport days ago!
He tells her how she saved him at that time and wants to help her in any way he can...
And it's here that a heartbroken Yumeko makes the very outrageous request...by asking this man if he would be her "Ideal" boyfriend...and love her!
Well,I would say at this point that we all know how this story will go, but who knows, they've been making some pretty drastic endings lately in an effort to "circumvent expectations" so we may get an original story yet! And anyway, I'm glad to take this trip with Aya! We'll see where this one goes!
