Legal Eagles: "Ishiko to Haneo"

Tomoya Nakamura and Kasumi Arimura in Ishiko to Haneo: Sonna Koto de Uttaemasu?
When Paralegal Shoko “Ishiko” Ishida (Kasumi Arimura) is told by her Lawyer Father Ushio (Masashi Sada) that, due to a bad back he will be sending a substitute to handle their current divorce case, she is shocked to find the person he has sent is a brash and flashy young man full of slick cliches and snappy comebacks named Yoshio “Haneo” Haneoka (Tomoya Nakamura).
This dapper man takes over the case in an outlandish way that has Shoko fearing for the repercussions of such a haphazard handling of the case, a far cry from her father’s kind and thoughtful demeanor. But at least she only has to deal with him for the time being. Or so she thinks!
For when Ishida talks to her Father, he informs her that this Haneoka has been hired as part of the official legal team! WHAT! She has no IDEA why her Father would bring this reckless man into the family business, and the two are immediately (and hilariously) butting heads!!!
Shoko can only accept this man for the time being, but when they take on their first case, dealing with a young man (Eiji Akaso) accused of stealing electricity from a business, she finds out how bad it can get!
Shoko is to find that while Haneoka is quick with a smooth saying and convincing when going to talk to the person filing the complaint...
...he falls apart INSTANTLY when his plans go off course- When confronted with belligerence from the suer, Haneoka shuts down, retreating into silence and then announcing he is dropping the case, much to Shoko's shock!!!
Thankfully  Shoko has the tenacity and talent to dig into the case and guide Haneoka back onto the path- and as the two delving into the case, Shoko discovers his natural talent: a photographic memory that he can use to remember EVERY detail of any scene and a mind which can create any plan of attack. And when his plans and foresight fall short, it’s here that Shoko’s own strengths as a superb paralegal and a feel for the human side and HEART of things ultimately bring the case together! It appears that Ishiko (Rock) and Haneo (Feather) are two sides that when put together, become the ultimate legal team anyone could hope for!
Ishiko to Haneo: Sonna Koto de Uttaemasu? is one of the three tentpole dramas I was waiting to see this season (along with Unicorn ni notte and Mahou No Rinobe) and I wasn't disappointed!
My major draw for this drama was, of course, the lovely Kasumi Arimura, and oh my GOSH, she was SO wonderfully sassy and pretty here that she lit up every scene she was in!
Tomoya Nakamura must be the luckiest guy working with all the "Fresh Faces" of today like Mei Nagano, Fuka Koshiba, Haru Kuroki and Nana Mori, and now we can add Kasumi Arimura to that list! I don't know if I'd say he and Kasumi had great chemistry together, as Nakamura's style of acting is always decidedly standoffish anyway, but they do create some really great scenes, and the camera always frames the two of them together in such a way that they seem like the PERFECT duo!!!
Yeah, it ain't a perfect show, but for now it's still one of the shows I'm placing on my high priority list! The Kasumi Arimura goodness alone is enough to make this a must-see!!!
PS: Eiji Akaso's character is supposed to be in love with Kasumi, and I gotta say: after watching him chasing after Noriko Eguchi in "Super Rich"for so long,  it's refreshing to see him pining for a girl who's actually pretty for a change, LOLOL
I Keed, I Keed....
