A Probable Pass on "Hoshi Furu Yoru ni"

Caught the first episode of “Hoshi Furu Yoru ni”, a drama in the vein of “Silent", with a woman (Yuriko Yoshitaka) getting romantically involved with a deaf person. Unlike Silent, however, THIS male lead character (played by Takumi Kitamura) is absolutely unlikeable, at least in MY opinion...When he first sees Yuriko up at a lake, he starts taking photos of her without asking. He invites himself into her camp and helps himself to her food. THEN, he decides it is OK to lean in and KISS her!
I'm thinking , "What a JERK!" BUT of course, this being a typical J-drama, she loves it and responds by reciprocating passionately, WTF! As the viewer I'm just left COLD.
VERY irritating, and just when you thought maybe you’re SUPPOSED to think the guy is a jerk, they start painting him as this wonderfully emotional, considerate and misunderstood person who is there for people in their "time of need"... What a GREAT person!
Remember in Star Wars Empire Strikes Back, when Luke first meets Yoda? When they first meet, Yoda’s acting like an unhinged spastic crackhead, but once it’s revealed he is Yoda the JEDI MASTER, he suddenly gets serious and acts like LUKE is the one who acted immature…yeah, that’s the vibe I get here, too!
Though I LOVE Yuriko Yoshitaka, I’m thinking I'm gonna be skipping this one!
PS: What in the WORLD is it with all these shows with Deaf Characters all of a sudden? Koi Desu: Yankee-kun to Hakujou Garu, Silent, and now Hoshi Furu Yoru Ni…It’s like 1995 all over again, back when deaf character dramas like "Hoshi no Kinka" and "Aishiteiru To Ittekure" were all the rage!
Below: Angrily signing to Yuriko even though she can't understand it and he KNOWS she can't understand it. Just saw this happen in SILENT, this is gonna be a new trope, I can FEEL it!
OKAY, let's see what else it out this season....
