Gouriteki ni Arienai~Tantei Kamizuru Ryoko no Kaimei

Yuki Amami has made a lifelong career out of playing these strong-willed, brash and outspoken women in her dramas, and now we have her as the supremely confident and daring Ryoko Kamizuru in Gouriteki ni Arenai!
I’ve always said that Yuki Amami is kind of like Jack Nicholson in that she never becomes her characters, instead the characters she plays become Yuki Amami- some might call this a flaw of sorts, but I love that with her, you ALWAYS know what you’re going to get- a riveting and entertaining romp with a larger-than-life personality!
Ryoko Kamizuru is a former lawyer who, upon being framed in an assault case of which she has no recollection of, has been disbarred and released upon suspension. Since then, she has run the Detective Agency with her partner Nobuhiko Takayama (Kouhei Matsushita), a sharp eyed genius with the IQ of 140, taking on only the most strange and bizarre cases-ones that will give them the most satisfaction…and biggest payouts!

This already is a great formula for some “mystery of the week” type episodes (and make no mistake, this is certainly that), but what makes these special to me is the way that, despite the initial monetary interests, Kamizuru and Takayama have real hearts of gold who truly care about the belittled people who come to them, and in the end, take a greater reward from them by seeing them succeed than for any payday.
A cast that includes Tomomi Maruyama as Tanba, Kamizuru’s “man with the connections” though he too is only a former detective. Stats say that Sei Shiraishi will also be a part of this ensemble team (or something), but she has yet to be introduced! Can’t wait to see just how she fits in here!

Anyhow, like I say, this drama has the feel of an “Aibo” or “Investigator Mariko” vibe more than a drama proper, but I cannot deny how much FUN I had watching it!
Will be tuning in for more!
