Favorite J-Pop Singles: Matsuda Seiko / Taisetsu na Anata

After falling in love (or, admittedly, lust) with Seiko Matsuda after her unbelievably sexy and sassy performance of “Kagayaita Kisetsu E Tabi Datou” on  the Kohaku, I was excited at the prospect of what she was gonna do next! Little did I know, but my next big Seiko fave came not from the present, but from the past!

After I purchased Seiko’s awesome “It’s Style” album, a friend at work told me he’d taped an appearance Seiko did on an NGN music show earlier that past year, and seeing how much I was getting into Seiko's stuff, said would bring it in for me to check out!

What a wonderful special that turned out to be! It was a "Matsuda Seiko" themed episode, and for that occasion, they’d invited special guests to come up and join in on a long medley of Seiko’s past hits with her. All the tunes were fun and/or touching, but for me the absolute highlight of the show was when she concluded the event with a rambunctious performance of her (then) current single, the joyful TAISETSU NA ANATA!
Oh My gosh, Seiko looked sooooooooooooo damn fine, her outfit so girlishly sexy, and the happy, playful way she’s singing the song just made me SMILE! A song about happiness that makes me happy, that’s ALL THERE IS TO IT- That’s what J-pop is all about, folks!
