Just looking at the site banner for the new drama “Hello Hari Nezumi” (Hello Hedgehog!) and, it’s mind-blowing the talent they’re got starring in this: Eita and Go Morita (as the main focus), Tomoko Yamaguchi (whom I’ve been enjoying in the cute “Kokoro Ga Pokitto Ne") , Lily Franky, and (drumroll)…AOI YU! MAN, I HAD to check this one OUT!!!
Just watched the first episode and so far it is pretty darn good!
Eita and Morita are detectives Goro Nananse and Kyusaku Kogure, working for the Akatsuka Detective Agency, run by the ever-drinking Kahoru Kaze (Yamaguchi), a business that at first seem very laid back in its way of doing things...The company has one calling, however: it will take on the unusual cases that policemen and regular detectives won’t. And true to form, the very first case we see the two tackling is of a man whose wife and daughter have been involved in an accident- the daughter has died but the wife is still hanging on- and the husband wants to hire them to find a child who looks just like his deceased daughter to pretend to be her and encourage the dying mother.
At first the job seems even too far fetched for the agency to handle, but the man is desperate to give his wife peace, so they say they will try their best. At Kogure’s suggestion, they first try child actresses, but all of them are too “hammy” for their job (the real girl was a gentle ballet dancer type) and they are afraid they’ll have to withdraw from the case.
Just then, they happen to see a downtrodden young girl being bullied by some kids in the park…and this girl is a dead-ringer (no pun intended) for the daughter, and they quickly follow her to get information of her as a possible hire.
They are shocked to discover, however, that the girl is an orphan who lives in a boarding house and has had a very rough life. When asked if she could help them with their request, she refuses. It seems like all is lost, but from here we see why Goro and Kahoru are such a good team: they are passionate about their job and want to set things right, not only getting the girl to stand in for the deceased daughter, but healing her emotional scars as well. They throw their hearts into getting the job done so that everyone can have some peace of mind.
OOOOH, and one added bonus in watching Hello Hari Hari Nezumi I hadn’t counted on is my introduction to the bodaciously boobalicous Moemi Katayama, oh MY what a GAL!
When Goro and Kaze aren’t busy working a case, they are hanging out in a bar on the floor beneath the agency, hitting on the fetching waitress Moemi (creative name, that, LOL), who, as played by Katayama, likes to “let it all hang out”, evoking admiration from Kahoru (who constantly begs her for a chance) and sleazy cupping from Goro! But the fun never lasts, as they are regularly interrupted by a thumping from the ceiling. That’s Kaze upstairs, letting them know there’s a new client to interview!
Usually they are quite put off by being interrupted as they are getting closer to the sexy Moemi but when they see that the latest client is the ABSOLUTELY luscious Kyoko Fukada, WELL! That makes everything FINE!
Unfortunately, her introduction comes at the END of the episode, so her job request will have to wait til next week…
Hmm, really curious as to how they’re going to work Kyoko into being part of the team (as all the promo pics and even opening credits showcase the four of them together as a partnership of sorts), was bummed to not see more of her in this episode, and HEY! We didn’t get to see Aoi Yu AT ALL! Grrr….waiting VERY impatiently for the next episode!!!
