Boku wa Mari no naka tells the story of an awkward shut in named Komori (Ryo Yoshizawa) who has a crush on a girl named Mari (Elaiza Ikeda) . She doesn’t know him and he’s never interacted with her.
All he knows about her is what he can see from watching her from afar. So it is with some surprised when he wakes up one morning and finds he’s inside of her body!
Mari/Komori has to learn to adjust being a girl, going to school and interacting with schoolmates. But a steely-eyed girl named Yori (Yurika Nakamura), an unpopular girl who’s had her eyes on Mai for some time now, realizes right away that Mari isn’t herself.
After a terse confrontation, Yori becomes Komori/Mari’s only friend as they try to deal with this bizarre happening.
So far it’s following the same patterns of other body-switching stories like the famous “Your Name”, however in this one, Mari doesn’t seem to be anywhere. For though Komori has jumped into HER body, he finds another version of himself that is completely unaware of anything going on!
Sounds like a laugh riot, but this has to be the LEAST fun body-switching drama I've seen-BOY, every single person in this drama has SEVERE psychological issues and every episode ends with SOMEbody freaking out, crying and running off, only to compose themselves and apologize in the next episode.
Someone on MydramaList said that the original manga for Boku wa Mari no Naka was heavily psychologically driven…suppose I should have guessed by the show’s yecchy green-blue filter which always assures a dreary show.
At episode 5 now and waiting to see if the subber finish this one up. Could really take it or leave it at this point, though I do want to know the mystery of where the real Mari has gotten. Has she gone or is she living within Komori and even acting out? Guess I’d like to know!
I only grabbed this one because I really love Elaiza Ikeda whom stole my heart in the Fumino Kimura drama “Ito Kun A to E” as Satoko Aida and later as Honoka in the Haruma Miura special “Tourist”, and as far as that goes, it has been wonderful to see Elaiza in action.
But I wanted more fun and less tears!
