Was walking through the local WAL-MART the other night, and was STUNNED to see them selling Mamoru Oshii's Computer-Crafted Gamer Movie ASSAULT GIRLS right on the DVD rack in front of me!
Granted, it was in an "Asian Cinema" section, and it was just about the only Japanese movie there (among films like IP Man, House Of Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the like), but HEY, when you can stroll into any American Wal-Mart and buy a Meisa Kuroki movie right off the shelf (and for only $13.00, besides!), it's time to celebrate! Who knows, the day may come when we can purchase a whole variety of current japanese flicks right around the corner! Here's to the future....
