A Band Apart: BG: Personal Bodyguard Season 2

Huh, I had no idea that they were making a sequel to BG: Personal Bodyguard, and I just discovered it even as the last episode aires! I know not many of youa re fans of Takuya Kimura but I always find his dramas entertaining and I couldn’t wait to dive into it!
Since the last series, Hinode Securities has been absorbed by huge Security firm KICKS and, as we tune in, the teammates are still at the top of their game protecting their VIP clients.
Takuya Kimura as Akira Shimazaki
 Takumi Saito as Masaya Takanashi

 Nanao as Mayu Suganuma
 Shotaro Mamiya as Seitaro Sawaguchi

During one of their stakeouts, Shimazaki is injured while fending off a corkscrew-wielding assailant. Though painful, it is a minor injury that won’t affect his work and, after checking in with Doc Kasamatsu (Mikako Ichikawa, a character I love), he is cleared to go…
…but one evening some things come to light and Shimazaki is devastated to learn that KICKS president Ryu Komei (Toru Nakamura) may have actually set up the attack in order to promote his services.

The two clash over principles and in the end, Shimazaki leaves KICKS Securities to start off on his own!

Starting out small, Shimazaki can only take on minor cases and he finds out that in a job like security, it is difficult to cover everything with only one man. At the same time, Takanashi has been suspicious about the circumstances of Shimazaki’s departure. Meeting up with his son Shun (Kanau Tanaka), he learns of the new business and ends up helping Shimazaki out.
Despite their differences, the two work well together, with Shimazaki’s thoughtful introspect and Takanashi’s sheer brutality, and they successfully pull off several huge jobs.
Meanwhile back at KICKS, both Suganuma and Sawaguchi are still on the payroll and, though they look out for the two departed members, are trying to do their best at their job. But they soon discover that there may be more to Komei’s decisions than mere publicity…
So far, REALLY digging the show, very well crafted characters and interesting cases! In one sitting I already blew through THREE episodes and am ready to watch more!
PS: Though i've been trying to work with the new blogger interface, I jsut HAD to switch back to the legacy blogger...there are SO MANY damn problems trying to put together a post with that new template.
