Nana Seino plays Akiha Okado, a career woman working at an advertising agency who is content to work diligently and remain a “himono-onna” at home, slurping down beers in her baggy sweats.By chance she witnesses an awkward exchange between a salaryman and his supposed date at a family restaurant, where he bungles a marriage proposal and gets a glass of water thrown in his face.Akiha is embarrassed for the guy, but is further shocked when she goes to a dinner with some clients and he’s among the men there! His name is Shu Momose(Kentaro Sakaguchi), and, immediately setting his eyes on her, asks if she’s single…and wants to get married!!!Unnerved by his unfeeling attitude (no wonder he got shot down so thoroughly!) she politely declines, though admitting it’s something her grandmother has longed for.Freshening up, Akiha is caught outside by Momose who reasserts his proposal, telling her he only wants a marriage of convenience and she should accept his offer since it would make her Grandmother happy, too.
An extremely offended Akiha throws a vase of water in his face and storms back to the table, but is soon called away upon hearing her grandmother has fallen ill.Momose accompanies Akiha to the hospital where they find Grandmother in good spirits. It’s a false alarm ,but the Doc warns Akiha that any big shock could have catastrophic results. When she gets back, she sees Momose telling the Grandma that he and Akiha are dating and going to be married! He gets out his marriage form and, with Grandma’s urging, badgers her into signing the form…* * * * *
Grabbed this one for my love of Nana Seino, but as you all know I have this deep disdain for Kentaro Sakaguchi (ever since "Gomen, Aishiteiru" he's always rubbed me the wrong way) and watching him bully Nana into marrying him no matter how comedic it's supposed to be just puts me OFF.
The silly set-up where she HAS to pretend to get engaged because she doesn’t want her Grandma to get a shock…isn’t it MORE dangerous to FAKE this relationship and have her discover it then????
Of course, they’re going to show Nana discovering what a “wonderful guy” he is, and eventually falling madly in love with him, but I’m REALLY not sure if I can sit through this in the meantime, ugh.
