Notes on Sixteen Syndrome

Just wrapped up Sixteen Shoukogun ~ Sixteen Syndrome, a High School Drama about a pair of girls with an almost unnaturally clingy relationship!
There is the tough and ultra-cool Azuma Ibuki, the well-liked and sports-perfect star of the class whose tomboyish nature gives her the nickname of "Prince"...
and the pretty but shy and introverted Mei Otazawa, the "princess" of the schoolyard!
The two are fiercely protective and jealous of each other, and are never seen without the other in sight, doing everything together on and even off campus!
Their normal routine gets shaken up , however, when womanizer Mutsumi Asada sets his eyes on Mei. he tries and tries to get close to her, but is always thwarted by Ibuki's defences!
But over time, Asada begins to feel real attraction to Ibuki, and when she in turn begins feeling the same for him, it threatens to tear apart the tight bond she has with Mei!
But with Asada and another persecuted lad named Nao (Yutaro Goto), the four develop a kind of solace with each other, and the two girls attempt to break apart and have "regular" friendships.
Was interesting watching these two girls deal with these new situations and watching them create new relationships with the boys (of sorts). Aisa Takeuchi is great in the role of Ibuki, as well as Rena Takeda, whom I had JUST seen in the Yuna Tairi drama Onzoshi Boys!
Hoping to see more of these girls!
